Structured Workshops

You may wish to hire 'The Joker Entertainment' to entertain the same group of participants over several sessions. This works particularly well at lunch time/after school clubs, or perhaps at a weekend club. To ensure that these sessions are varied and to maintain participant's attention we have put together a session plan based on 6 sessions which are 1-2 hours long. This session plan is just a guide and can be adjusted to suit longer and shorter time slots and can run for as many sessions as you wish. To discuss a specific session plan please give us a call.

Structured Workshops

1 or more experienced tutors from 'The Joker Entertainment' will demonstrate, instruct and guide participants throughout the 6 session plan to get them from novice to simple performing level. The aim of the sessions is to teach the participants the basics of a wide range of circus skills, develop those skills and as a group put together a choreographed performance, complete with music in front of an audience.

Structured Workshops

Juggling Balls, Juggling Clubs, Diabolo, Flower Sticks, Spinning Plates, Hoola Hoops, Staff, Poi, Unicycles, Trainer Unicycles, Foot Peddles, Rope Stilts, Hand Held Stilts, Rola Bola, Modelling Balloons, Balloon Pumps

The tutor will begin with a demonstration, introducing the equipment that will be used through the hour. The group will then be split into 6 small groups and will each be designated either Juggling Balls, Juggling Clubs, Diabolo, Flower Sticks, Spinning Plates, or Poi.

Each group will spend between 5 and 10 minutes with each piece of equipment before being instructed to move onto the next. By the end of the hour everyone will have had a go of all the equipment available including a couple of extras at the end such as hoola hoops, all participants will know the basic skills and theory behind using each piece of equipment and will have gained new basic skills.

The tutor will begin with a demonstration, quickly showing how the chosen model will be made. The tutor will then proceed, introducing the equipment that will be used through the hour. The participants will then be shown step by step, one twist at a time how to make the chosen model.

Once the initial model has been successfully made participants will be encouraged and guided through making additional balloons and designs and will hopefully be able to make at least one model unassisted by the end of the session.

Structured Workshops

In this session the participants will be working on developing the skills they have learnt in the previous 3 sessions. The tutors will work around the group guiding and advising and showing basic tricks. The aim of this session is for participants to become competent with their chose piece of the equipment and to have picked up a few tricks.

Toward the end of the session participants will be asked to choose 1 or 2 pieces of equipment which they wish to focus on for the next 2 sessions.

Structured Workshops

In session 5 participants will be introduced to the piece of music they will be performing to in the last session. We will also discuss as a group how we would like to structure the performance and decide on group sizes ect.

Participants will be using the skills they have learnt over the last four sessions, as well as a little showmanship to put together their part of the performance with help from the tutor. During the performance the participants have to interact with each other, therefore have to work together.

Structured Workshops

The aim of this session is to practice the performance in individual groups, practice the performance structure as a whole before performing in front of an audience. By the end of this session all participants will have contributed their part to the performance.
